Sports riders getting shafted again. No Points Sports and now No Results and still the same entry fee as last year... Come here somebody has to be taking the micky here..
What a joke this year is turning out to be... Makes you wonder why you bother taking out a licence and turning up at these races.
Time the commission stepped up to the mark, admit that making the sports cat a No point series was a mistake and that everybody's results (not just sports) count at the end of the day.. |

ur right about that.. don't think too many enjoyed a fourth lap.. apart from Buggle.. looked like he was only warmed up after lap 4..
Some statistics from the last two years Carlingford NPS. Same track, same distance, wetter in 2008 I'm told..
Elites:
Peter Buggle..
2008: DNF
2009: 1st
Aiden McC, Gerry McCabe..
2008: 1st, 3rd Vets)
2009: 3rd, 2nd Elites
juniors:
Conal Higgans..
2008: 1st 2:33:11 (4 laps)
2009: 1st 2:10:50 (4 laps)
Oisin Boydell..
2008: 1st Expert 1:58:12 (4laps)
2009:1st Master 2:00.51 (4laps)
Alan Bingham
2008: 3rd Sport
2009: 2nd Sport
Well done Alan
Fair play to the top 3 experts.. finally putting down a marker to the masters, well done. |

Stephen
You should be aware and understand clearly that it is the responsibility of the hosting club to provide race results, decide entry fees and also to decide lap counts and course length.
The Offroad Commission make recommendations and provide advice and assistance (eg; in the form of laptop-based timing and training on same as was done on Sunday) but at the end of the day, the final decision whether or not to accept the recommendations and help/timing system etc.. resides with the hosting club.

To add to this thread, what happened to the expert numbering system?
I decided not to follow the expert race “winner” up the fire road as he had a 3 digit masters number on his bike, and claimed he was an elite rider, with another lap to go.
Let him off up the road, I thought.
Very disappointed with 2nd place for this reason.
Very disappointed with the response from the organisers.
It’s hard to know who’s who..... Unless the race numbers are right. |

Good point...I had a low number and some people asked me if I was Elites, i did say I wasn't.
In the K-Cap's the categories were colour coded so it was more than obvious to see who was who. This system, along with the electronic lap-timing should be adopted by all race holders. |

Fair play Oscar, but not everyone is as upfront as you.
Unfortunately you can't rely on an honour system.
Even if the rider rides for bikepure.
It is cycling afterall....

Yes Donnacha, Thats correct.
The numbers were all over the place, so you had to take a person on their word.

Chris Cross, I think you should start a separate thred on that as its an interesting debate on where the line is between sportsmanship and winning at all costs. At the end of the day we are just amateur bikers and that tactic seems to be unsportsmanlike to me, but I'd would be interested to hear the reactions of others. |

In fairness to Cuchulainn, while it was dissapointing not to get our results in Sports, it is important to emphasise that the course was great and we got to do the full lap! |
